Once it became clear that Tiger Woods suffered only superficial injuries in Friday’s car crash, the jokes began to pour in.

The mysterious circumstances of the collision combined with the punning potential of golf have provided plenty of material for internet wits to work with.

World's cheapest car Tata Nano with hybrid versions

India’s Tata Group says it is planning to produce hybrid versions of its Nano, billed as the world’s cheapest car.

Ratan Tata, the chairman of both Tata Group and Tata Motors – the biggest vehicle producer in India – made the comments on a visit to South Korea.

A hybrid vehicle typically uses two or more distinct power sources to move it, usually petrol or diesel and a battery.

Mr Tata also said that low-priced goods would drive sales faster than high-end ones in India.

And he predicted this so-called price revolution would also continue to spread across the world. (more…)

Barack Obama unveils new strategy against Taliban

Mr Obama is also setting out how the US will approach its exit strategy and is urging allies to send more troops.

The new deployment over six months will bring America’s troop strength in the country to more than 100,000, in the fight against Taliban militants.

Mr Obama believes the surge will help prepare the handover to Afghan forces.

Mr Obama is delivering his nationally televised speech to cadets at the West Point military academy in New York.

He began by stressing that the US was in Afghanistan because of the 9/11 attacks on America by al-Qaeda militants. (more…)
