Microsoft finalized Office 2010

Microsoft said Friday that it has wrapped up development work on the next version of the Office family, including Office 2010, SharePoint 2010, Visio 2010, and Project 2010.

The products were “released to manufacturing,” which is the final engineering step. The products are slated to be available for businesses next month and Microsoft is holding a launch event on May 12 in New York.

“RTM is the final engineering milestone of a product release and our engineering team has poured their heart and soul into reaching this milestone,” vice president Takeshi Numoto said in a blog posting. “It is also an appropriate time to re-emphasize our sincere gratitude to the more than 5,000 organizations and partners who have worked with us on rapid deployment and testing of the products.”

Bill Gates: The next American Idol?

Bill Gates is going on “American Idol.”

No, the Microsoft chairman and philanthropist won’t be singing on the show. Rather, he and wife Melinda will talk about the importance of giving and the impact it can have.

It’s part of the “Idol Gives Back” program, in which the singing competition show raises money for various charitable organizations. The episode airs Wednesday evening on Fox. Two of the beneficiaries–Malaria No More and the United Nations Foundation–are organizations that work closely with the Gates Foundation.

Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan is ready to fall down from the slopes of the hills. He’s not committing suicide or trying a new stunt for his next film. Actually, the super star will soon, be skiing down the slopes in the exotic locales of France. Aamir Khan, who has taken a year off from the film industry, is bonding big time with his family these days. Aamir’s kids Junaid and Ira had already left for France 3 days back with their grand mom and aunts. Now Aamir and wife Kiran Rao will be joining the tea.

Hrithik to perform at IPL 3 closing ceremony

It’s a double delight for the audience at the IPL 3 final at DY Patil stadium (Nerul) on April 25. Other than the cricket excitement in the evening, the audience will get to see India’s dancing superstar Hrithik Roshan performing live.  Hrithik’s dances will also include a promotion activity for his forthcoming home production Kites, which is up for release in May.

“Like the previous seasons, the third season of the IPL this year has been a big hit ever since it started. Most of Hrithik’s songs are popular and his dance performance during the finale will be the icing on the cake. His performance will be part of the closing ceremony. It will be a rocking item.” sources claimed.   It is learnt that Hrithik, who is currently in Singapore, has been busy rehearsing for his IPL 3.
