In light of the rampant credit cards frauds throughout the world, US global payments technology company Visa’s European arm has designed a new ultra secure card – it is the size of a conventional credit card but has a keypad and digital number display.
According to the Daily Mail, the new card, named the Visa CodeSure a miniature keyboard and screen used to generate a constantly changing series of unique security passwords required to authorise purchases over the Internet. The Visa CodeSure has a 12 button keypad and is equipped with a screen and a battery that lasts for three whole years. Online Shopping frauds are the most common forms of credit card thefts. Head of Innovation at Visa Europe, Sandra Alzetta, said: “This exclusive Visa solution is an extremely convenient way to bring a similar level of security to payments online as we now enjoy on the high street. The solution goes beyond online and remote shopping but also allows organisations to use the card in place of other online log-in systems to access.”
To use the Visa CodeSure card while making an online purchase, a user has to enter their PIN number on the keyboard – the card then generates a unique password every time an online transaction is about to be made. The password would have to be typed into the web shopping store to approve a purchase. This card can be used to generate secure passwords to allow customers to access their online bank accounts. This avoids using the same password all the time.
