Actual Pakistan flood death toll unknown

The actual number of people killed by the massive flooding in Pakistan remains unknown because large areas of the country are inaccessible, Islamabad’s U.N. envoy said on Friday.

The official death toll is around 1,500 but the true number of people killed in the disaster may turn out to be higher, Ambassador Abdullah Hussain Haroon told the U.N. General Assembly at the end of a two-day conference on aid for Pakistan.

Dark chocolate is Good for Health

Eating about an ounce and a half of dark chocolate a day for two weeks can reduce levels of stress hormones in the bodies of people feeling highly stressed, a new study has found.

Published online in ACS’ Journal of Proteome Research, the trial also found that the sweet treat partially corrected other stress-related biochemical imbalances.

In the study, Sunil Kochhar and colleagues identified reductions in stress hormones and other stress-related biochemical changes in volunteers who rated themselves as highly stressed and ate dark chocolate for two weeks. (more…)

Checking e-mails at work can take off almost ten years of your working life, according to a new research.

People are so addicted to the e-mail system that they can”t control the urge to log on.

According to the study by Scottish IT training company, responding to an e-mail every five minutes clocks up a staggering 8.5 hours a week given the “recovery” time required after each interruption – adding up to 9.7 years of a working life. (more…)
