ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 warm-up matches

ICC has announced the schedule of warm-up matches before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 to be held at India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

The 13 warm-up matches will be held from February 12 to 18 at Bangalore, Chennai, Chittagong, Colombo, Dhaka, Nagpur and Pallekele . The schedule of the matches are as follows.

India defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets

Breaking News! The warrior Virender Sehwag won the crucial tri-series match for India with a much-needed bonus point. But cricket was put into shame, as Kumara Sangakkara and Suraj Randiv colluded in the end to deny Sehwag a well-deserving hundred.

India won the match in style, thanks to Virender Sehwag, who remained unbeaten on 99 off 100 balls. India needed five runs to win and Sehwag was on strike. Then came the cunning and unethical tactics adopted by Sangakkara and Randiv.

Sri Lanka beat New Zealand by 3 wickets

Dambulla: Sri Lanka huffed and puffed to a three-wicket win over New Zealand in the second ODI of the tri-series and helped India reclaim the second spot in the ICC ODI team rankings on Friday. India had surrendered the second position to Kiwis after the humiliating 200-run loss in the series-opener.

Opener Upul Tharanga (70 off 109) was top scorer in Sri Lanka’s haphazard chase as Sri Lanka scored 195 for seven in 40.5 overs in a target of 193.

New Zealand, electing to bat, were all out for 192 in 48.1 overs after Sri Lanka’s pace duo of Lasith Malinga (3/35) and Angelo Mathews (3/36) shared six wickets between them. The Kiwi total was built around some good effort by debutant BJ Watling (55) and Nathan McCullum (36).

Muralitharan created a record with a staggering 800 wickets


Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan ends his illustrious Test career, claiming his 800th Test wicket in his last match against India on Thursday July 22, 2010 at Galle (Sri Lanka).

Cricket World Cup 2015 at Australia & New Zealand

The ICC has confirmed that the venue for the 2015 Cricket world cup will be Australia & New Zealand. The 1992 edition of WC took place there, where Pakistan won the cup beating England in the Finals.

Also ICC confirmed the venue for 2012 and 2014 T20 world cup is for Sri Lanka and Bangladesh respectively.

The 2013 Champions Trophy will be held in England.
