We Are Family : Movie Review by Taran Adarsh

WE ARE FAMILY is a perfect family film with a good mix of emotions and humour. Plus, a brilliant climax, which will ensure that the film grows with a strong word of mouth. The last film which came close to being a family outing was PAA. Before that, the only quintessential family film was BAGHBAN. WE ARE FAMILY is the kind of film that should work instantly with ladies and when ladies watch such films, they bring their spouses and children along. Recommended! (more…)

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Movie Review by Taran Adarsh

ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI is an extremely well-made film that lingers in your memory. The realism coupled with stellar direction, power-packed writing, exceptional performances and ear-pleasing tunes are its trump cards. An outstanding cinematic experience!

The fascination with gangster movies has been immense worldwide. On this side of the Atlantic, several gangster films have left giant footprints on the sands of time. Chris Nolan has expanded his abilities on ‘Inception’, and has created a film that is much more ambiguous and full of more thought. Like his breakthrough film ‘Memento’, this one too toys with time and space, albeit with a dash of David Lynch. (more…)

Robin Hood – Movie Review

Robin Hood is devoted to all of the stuff we love about the title character — you know, the stunning displays of archery skill, the robbing from the rich and giving to the poor, etc. Instead, we’re forced to watch as the future folk legend, who begins the film as a lowly infantryman in King Richard’s crusading army, engages in significantly less riveting endeavors, like gambling with fellow soldiers in between sieges, arguing against the killing of defenseless Muslims, planting a wheat field just just in time for the rainy season, and debating the merits of the Magna Carta.

Needless to say, this isn’t Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood (which, say what you will, was at least entertaining), but a gritty, period-authentic, “real” take on the character, absent all the usual Hollywood gloss and polish.
